Adrienne O'Connor

Masters of Science, Certified Child Life Specialist

We are professionally certified as Child Life Specialists, with a Master’s Degree in Child Development, with an emphasis on the medicalized child.

When working together at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco, we noticed the gap in services for a family’s experience while the family was at home – either before a hospitalization, between treatments, or after an experience. We realized how much responsibility falls onto a caregiver’s shoulders during these windows of time, and how high a child’s needs still are. We wanted to provide caregivers with the resources, education, tools, and words to help their child understand and cope with the experience, and return to their job of development and play!

Our Joint Experience:

We have a range of experience over the past 15 years, including Child Life work at University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital, Lurie Children’s Hospital, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, CPMC Medical Center, Hospice By the Bay, and Community non-profits. We also belong to the Association of Child Life Professionals and are certified in Infant Massage and BioFeedback.

We have supported families within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Emergency Room, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, as well as within the home setting supporting palliative and hospice pediatric families.
